Keeping the Lights On: Why We’re Introducing Ads.

Hey everyone,

Since we started TableCommander, our goal has always been to build the best possible tool for our community. We love creating features that make your gaming sessions smoother, and seeing how many of you use the platform every day is incredibly rewarding.

As our community has grown, so have the costs of keeping TableCommander running at top speed. To ensure we can keep the platform sustainable, continue delivering constant updates, and keep the core features free for everyone, we’ve made the decision to introduce advertisements to the site.

We want to be completely transparent about why we’re doing this, how it affects our supporters, and what the next couple of weeks will look like.

Why We Need Ads

Server costs, database management, and development time add up quickly. Up until now, we’ve absorbed a lot of these costs out of pocket or relied entirely on our amazing community supporters. Introducing ads allows us to create a reliable revenue stream so TableCommander can remain stable, secure, and actively developed for years to come.

Patreon Supporters Are Covered

If you are already supporting us on Patreon, or if you choose to join our Patreon in the future, you will not see ads.

  • We are currently integrating our system to ensure that as long as you are logged into your connected account, your experience will remain completely ad-free.
  • It’s our way of saying a massive thank you for directly investing in the platform’s future.

The First 2 Weeks Will Be a Bit Bumpy (Please Bear With Us!)

When we first turn the ads on, our ad provider uses an automated learning period to analyze our site layout and traffic.

During the first two weeks, the volume, placement, and layout of the ads might look a bit messy, intrusive, or just too much. This is not our goal, we don't want to ruin the experience of building decks and browsing cards!!

This is only temporary. We don’t love a cluttered layout any more than you do. Once this initial two-week learning phase is complete, we will have full control to customize, fine-tune, and dial back the placements.

Our priority is to ensure that the ads never get in the way of your TC experience.

We Appreciate You!

We know that nobody loves seeing ads on their favorite tools, but this step is vital to keeping TableCommander alive and thriving for you all. We deeply appreciate your patience and feedback during this transition period.

If you do notice any ads that completely break the site functionality during the next two weeks, please let us know in our usual feedback channels/Discord so we can look into it.

Thank you for being part of this journey and for helping us keep it going.

James & Alun
